The Elegant Guide to Styling Your Lace Front

A natural lace-front finish is all about precise preparation and a light hand. These techniques create a polished hairline without overworking the lace.

Begin with a clean, dry hairline and a cap that lies flat against the head. Position the wig before trimming or securing anything, checking that the ear tabs sit evenly and that the front follows your natural hairline rather than sitting too low. A proper fit is the foundation of a believable, comfortable result.

If needed, trim excess lace in small, irregular sections just in front of the hairline. Work slowly with sharp shears, leaving a narrow margin rather than cutting directly into the knots. For a softer finish, lightly tint the lace to complement your complexion and use a small amount of lace adhesive or holding spray only where support is needed.

Create a part that suits the cut and your face shape, then use a heated comb on a low setting to smooth the root area away from the face. A touch of mousse can help settle flyaways, while a fine powder applied sparingly along the part may add scalp-like depth. Keep product away from the lace edge to prevent buildup.

At the end of the day, remove the wig patiently with the appropriate adhesive remover rather than pulling at the lace. Clean away residue before the next wear and store the wig on a stand or in a silk-lined bag. This protects both the delicate lace and the tailored style you have created.
